"Tavern wench," Excalibur said as he approached Jet.
Jet seemed irked by the way she was addressed. She crossed
her
arms and gave the knight an icy stare that he seemed not to notice.
"I'm looking for a dangerous monster that was spotted heading
in
this direction," Excalibur said a he pulled out a paper and held it out
in front of Jet. "Have you seen it?"
Jet briefly glanced at the paper before returning her stare to the
knight. "No," she stated coldly.
"Please take a better look tavern wench," he told her as he pushed the
paper close to her face. "This vile beast killed my valiant
steed. He was steadfast in the face of danger, but even his
bravery could not save him from the evil fiend's
attack. By
the time I realized the danger it was already too late. I
shall
think of his courage the next time I see the one responsible for my
magnificent horse's death. I will avenge his memory
if
it's the last thing I do!"
Excalibur quickly wiped his eyes that seemed slightly damp after his
long speech.
"Get out," Jet replied through gritted
teeth.
"Yes I know dear tavern wench you fear for your safety, but
fear
not I shall protect you as I could not protect my horse," he
responded, as Jet grew more and more furious with each word.
As Excalibur continued to assure Jet that he would keep her from harm,
Eimi stood up and began walking towards them. "What are you
doing?" Galaxar whispered.
"Tavern wench…" the knight began as Eimi
interrupted him.
"Hey that dragon on the paper kind of looks like you," Eimi stated as she held up Galaxar to get a better look.
With that Excalibur quickly turned around and opened his mouth to shout
something, but before he could get a breath out Jet pulled a large
hammer out from behind the counter and walloped him on the head.
"Don't call me tavern wench again!" she said angrily as he slid to the
floor unconscious.
"Wow, you're pretty violent," Eimi said sounding rather surprised.
"He had it coming," Jet told her as she walked around the counter and began to drag the knight's body towards the back door.
"I can't believe you did that!" Galaxar
squealed in a
high-pitched voice. "If he hadn't of
insulted Jet so
many times we would have been in trouble."
"But I wanted to see what was on the paper," she
whined. "How was I to know he was looking for
you?"
"Well did you have to hold me out where he could see me and pronounce
it to everyone when you did realize it?" he replied.
"Sorry" she said as she sulked.
Galaxar squirmed out of her hands and flew towards the door.
"Anyway, lets get as far away from here as we can before he comes
to. He's going to have one nasty headache when wakes up and he'll
be looking to take it out on us."
"Us?" Eimi said sounding puzzled as she followed Galaxar out the door. "What did I do?"
"Being with me is enough for him, I'm sure," he replied. He
glanced at a poster of himself on the building across the street as he
exited the tavern. "He'll probably have your picture posted all
over the town too. He'll probably end up telling everyone some
story about a demon cat that's conspiring with an evil dragon and we've
come to eat all their children."
"Why would we want to do that? Children don't taste good," she said sounding like she knew from experience.
"How would you know?" Galaxar responded before adding, "Never mind I don"t think I want to know."
"So where are we headed?" Eimi asked as she immediately forgot his question.
"That's a good question." He replied. "We can't stay at the
tavern or any where else in town and we can't go back to my cave
because he's sure to look there. That only leaves one option,
we'll have to hang out in the woods for a few days until he gives up
and goes home, but first we will need to get supplies." With that
Galaxar turned and headed down an alleyway leading further in town.
"Yay, camping!" Eimi shouted cheerfully as she followed behind the dragon.
