After several more accidents and a few moments later Galaxar was at the Russet Dog Inn & Tavern sitting at the bar holding an ice pack to his face. As he was nursing his newly forming black-eye, Eimi was sitting next to him happily stuffing her face with all of the goodies his friend Jet had supplied her.
"Are you sure you're going to be alright?" Eimi mumbled with a mouth full of food.
"Quite sure," he chuckled as he tried not to wince in pain as he bumped his eye with the ice pack. Trying to further act tough in front of the cat-girl, he called out, "Hey Jet, hook me up with the usual."
Jet looked at him with a stern look on her face and placed her hands on her hips as she got ready to refuse to serve him a Hamaelis Water, remembering what had happened the previous day. Galaxar shot her a pleading look, seeming rather desperate to try to impress the girl he was with. She sighed and got him his drink, knowing this was not going to end well. Eimi watched Galaxar take a swig of his drink and promptly pass out.
Jet shook her head and walked off thinking, "Well that's what he gets."
"Are you ok?" she asked as she leaned over and poked the unconscious Galaxar lying on the ground. She proceeded to poke him several times more when there was no response.
"Hello?… Are you awake?… Hello?"
After several moments of getting no response from Galaxar, other than some quiet snoring, a mischievous look crossed her face as she pulled something out of her pocket and placed it around his neck. Jet turned around as she was wiping the mug dry with her rag. She glanced at Eimi who was finishing fastening a strange collar around Galaxar's neck.
"Hey, what are you doing?" she asked as she put the mug down and walked toward the cat-girl.
"He is my pet," Eimi gleamed happily as she pressed a button on the collar, which made Galaxar take on his small dragon form. "I found him in the woods."
Jet was about to
grab her hammer from behind the counter and defend her unconscious
friend, but
when she noticed Eimi snuggling Galaxar up against her cheek, she
realized that
the small dragon was not in any trouble. She turned around began to
tidy up the
dishes from the cat-girl. Suddenly a smile crossed her face as she
thought of
the surprise Galaxar would be in store for when he awoke. She chuckled
and said silently, 'It serves him right... maybe now he'll
think
twice about drinking Hamaelis Water in his human form.'
Several moments later Galaxar awoke to an odd, yet strangely soothing
sensation. Something seemed to be rubbing against the side of
his
head. It felt rather soft and almost tickled in a
way. He
was still quite groggy and would normally prefer to sleep until he was
no longer suffering from the side effects of the Hamaelis Water, but
the soothing sensation upon his cheek sparked his curiosity.
He
slowly opened his eyes, determined to find out what this feeling was,
and noticed everything looked a lot bigger than it was before he passed
out. Galaxar brought his hand to his face only to find out it
was
a claw.
'How did I change forms while I was passed out?' he wondered.
Suddenly he began to hear a purring-like noise. 'Crap, this
isn't
good,' he thought. He turned his head to find himself staring
at
a furry cheek. 'Definitely not good.'
"You're awake," Eimi said as she noticed he was staring at her.
"Would you care to explain how I got this way," he asked. She
pointed to the collar around his neck in response. He tugged
at
the thing around his neck trying to remove it without any luck.
"You won't be able to cut or chew through it either," she told him as
she watched him attempt to pull it up to his mouth.
Galaxar dropped his hands in momentary defeat. "How exactly
did I end up wearing this?"
"I put it on you while you were unconscious," she said with a grin.
"Well that answers my other question of why you knew so much about it,"
he replied. May I ask why you decided that I needed this new
accessory?" He added sarcastically, "Does it bring
out the
color of my eyes perhaps?"
"Because pets are suppose to wear collars," Eimi replied looking rather
confused at the question.
"I was just wondering when you came to the conclusion that a human
would make a good pet?" he clarified.
"I didn't," she responded. "But I thought a tiny dragon
would."
"Perhaps, but I was surely not a dragon when I passed out," he
stated. "If I was I wouldn't have passed out in the first
place."
"No, but I knew you were a dragon," she said, "and not just any
dragon. I knew you were the dragon I was looking for."
"And how's that?" he questioned.
"I have a good sense of smell," she told him. "I knew it was
you."
"Of course, why wouldn't a cat have a good sense of smell?" he said as
he cursed his oversight. "Why did you even ask if you knew it
was
me?"
"I didn't realize until after I asked," Eimi replied.
Galaxar let out a sigh. "Now I'm sure you'd make a good owner
and
all, but I am not a pet and don't care to pretend to be one, so please
remove this collar and put me down." She shook her head and
smiled. "Now look here," he began, but was interrupted when
the
tavern door burst open. As the door flew open, an all too
familiar knight strolled in looking furious. Galaxar cringed
in Eimi's hands and tried to make himself unseen.
