Chapter One

The sun slowly rose over the green, hilly countryside. Birds started to chirp and sing as they awoke. But the morning found something that wasn't normally there: A rider and his horse. Excalibur, the knight, to be exact. And he had only one reason to be in this area. To find and destroy Galaxar.

And so Excalibur rode towards Galaxar's cave.

Eventually, Excalibur came upon a somewhat tall hill. As he crested the hill, he saw the cave come into view. He pulled back on the reins and looked down at the cave.

"Ah, there is the cave of the infernal creature, Galaxar. Soon he will feel the bite of my legendary blade, Arthur", thought Excalibur. He then headed down the hill towards the cave.

When he finally reached the mouth of Galaxar's cave, Excalibur took a deep breath and yelled into the mouth of the cave, "Dragon! Come out of there!"

A sleepy voice replied, "Go away, I don't want any! And thank you for waking me from a perfectly wonderful dream."

"Stupid knight," Galaxar grumbled. "Why in the world does he decide that he wants to challenge me so early in the morning? Doesn't he know that you're supposed to let sleeping dragons lie?"

Galaxar sighed. "Well, I'm awake now. No point in going back to sleep. He'll just keep bugging me until I come out."

By that time, Excalibur had dismounted his steed.

"Dragon!" Excalibur pointed his sword, Arthur, toward the cave entrance. The rays of the morning sun glinted off of the blade. "If you don't come out now, I'll come -"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," replied Galaxar. "I'm coming, I'm coming. Just keep your armor on."

Slowly, Galaxar got up and stretched. He then let out a yawn. Upon hearing this, the knight quickly got out from in front of the entrance. Unfortunately, the horse wasn't so lucky. The poor creature was immediately knocked out by the smell of dragon morning breath.

"Well," thought the knight. "at least it wasn't flame." He then shouted, "You'd better hope that horse wakes up!"

"Or else what" You'll come after me with your piddly little sword?" Galaxar said nonchalantly.

"I'll ignore that remark, Dragon," growled Excalibur.

"Yeah, whatever. So are we gonna do this or not?"

The two combatants went out to a grassy, flat field. The knight eyed Galaxar warily, and then went in for the kill. Unfortunately for the knight, Galaxar dodged the move easily, tripping the knight as he ran by. Galaxar snickered at the hapless knight.

After the knight picked himself up, he tried it again, with pretty much the same results. This went on for some time until the knight, purely by accident, held his sword in such a manner that the light reflected off the sword and into Galaxar's eyes, which momentarily blinded him.

Seeing his chance, Excalibur went for the kill.

"Die, Dragon!"

"Hey, not fair. I'm blinded!" said Galaxar.

Excalibur charged in and then it happened. Excalibur tripped and ended up slashing Galaxar on his left thigh. Galaxar roared in pain.

Galaxar then gave Excalibur a look that clearly stated his intentions. The knight was terrified. He had never gotten this far before. But before Excalibur could think of what to do next, Galaxar swung his tail around and hit the knight squarely in the chest, which sent him flying. Galaxar then winced.

"Lucky bastard. If the sunlight hadn't blinded me, I could've easily dodged that," Galaxar thought to himself. "Oh, well. Next time, I'll be more careful." And with that, he flew back to his cave to tend to his wound.

Meanwhile, the knight landed with an oomph! After a couple of seconds trying to regain his breath, the knight just laid there, lucky to be alive. Already in his mind were the beginnings of a new plan to slay this evil dragon named Galaxar.
